Everyone of us have days when you feel out of sorts. Where you just wish you were in a better mood.  Perhaps you may have tried to get yourself into a better state of mind, but struggled to achieve this.

1. Going for a walk

It is widely known that going for a short daily walk is a highly beneficial form of exercise. When you are feeling low it can be even more beneficial. You may discover something new and wonderful about a new topic. Whilst raising your happiness levels as the same time.

4. Find something you can laugh at.

As the saying goes, “laughter is the best medicine”. Laughter is one of the best ways to lift your spirits, especially if you are feeling down. Find a humorous book, or watch a comedy. Even better, try to learn a few new jokes and tell them to others.

5. Simple breathing meditation exercise

Breathing meditation is an effective and enjoyable exercise, that you can do anywhere.  Firstly, simply allow yourself to sit comfortably with your back straight. Then close your eyes and become aware of the flow of air into and out of your nostrils. Empty your mind, and simply focus on the breathing. That’s all there is to it. Do this for at least 10-15 minutes. Aim to do this at least every other day. Also take note how pleasantly surprised and happy you can feel afterwards.

6. Doodling for the fun

Most of us can remember when were young and used to doodle for hours. As kids many of us loved drawing silly little pictures. The important thing to remember is, drawing is not just for kids or artists.  It is simply taking action to get some pens, pencils and crayons or whatever you need to draw for the fun of it. After starting drawing and doodling after a few minutes, you’ll notice how your state of mind positively shifts.to happiness.

7. Thinking of those less fortunate.

The simple fact that you are reading this article just now, suggests you are probably much better off than most people on this planet. At times this may be hard to believe, especially on a down day. But if you can read and have access to the internet, those two things alone mean you are better off than most people in the world.  There are many human beings out there that  barely have access to the basics, and are struggling to survive. There are people in lots of pain through old age, injury or illness.  Allow your compassion for these unfortunate people to grow.
